One in four adults has some type of disability and 7.5 million children receive special education services, so why is disability so rarely depicted in children's literature?
The Division of Rehabilitative Services at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago has teamed up with Three Avenues Bookship and generous donors to provide a collection of children's books featuring diverse and authentic representations of disability because we believe representation matters!
Books provide mirrors, windows and doors through which children can experience all the richness of the world around them.
We invite you to contribute to this project by donating funds to support our collection. Your contribution stands to make a meaningfun and lasting impact on the lives of children we serve.
All donations are tax-deductible and will be acknowledged by Lurie Children’s Foundation.
On behalf of the patients and families of Lurie Children’s, thank you for your support!
