Acute necrotizing encephalopathy (ANE1) is a rare and devastating neurological condition that can strike without warning, often after something as common as a viral infection. Families like ours are thrown into sudden, life-altering medical emergencies, and today, there are no treatments that address the root cause of this disease.  

Our son Beckett is one of the children affected by ANE. He has had to relearn how to walk, talk and eat multiple times through grueling rehabilitation. These are basic skills most of us take for granted. Despite everything, he continues to show resilience, joy, and strength every single day. We are sharing our story in hopes of changing the future, not just for Beckett, but for every child and family facing this devastating condition.

We are raising funds in partnership with Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago to support groundbreaking research led by Dr. Erica Davis. This work focuses on developing advanced disease models to better understand how ANE affects the brain and to accelerate the development of targeted treatments.

$500 contributes to advanced testing that helps researchers identify potential treatment targets
