Aon Step Up for Kids, presented by KPMG, is an 80-floor stair climb to the top of the Aon Center in Chicago, ending with a celebration in support of the patients and families at Lurie Children’s. Fundraising proceeds are directed to K.I.D.S.S. for Kids, an affiliated organization of Lurie Children's, and its commitment to the hospital's Department of Family Services.

The Step Up for Kids climb is customizable for any type of stair climber from beginners to competitive climbers. You can register for the 80-floor climb, complete a half-climb, race to the top or take it slow and easy. You can also climb alone or with family or friends.

Registration

Online registration will close on Monday January 29th at 5 p.m. Participants can register in person at the Aon Center (exact location on the packet pickup tab), or on event day at the event site.

  • Adult Participant: $50 + 100 of fundraising committed by March 4
  • Child Participant (12 and under): Free

Packet Pick-Up

NEW PACKET PICKUP LOCATION

This year we will host packet pick-up at the Aon Center just inside the west entrance at the corner of Lake St. and Stetson Ave. The approximate address of this location is 199 N. Stetson Ave. A photo of this location is below. Please note, parking will be allowed and FREE at this entrance. Just pull up, park, put your hazards on, and we’ll be at the bottom of the stairs waiting for you. Please note, parking will NOT be available at any of the other Aon Center entrances or in the Aon Center garage.

Individuals may pick-up packets for up to two other individuals. If you are picking up packets for more than two individuals. You must email Aly Marzonie at [email protected] no later than Tuesday, January 30 at 12:00 p.m. We will do our best to accommodate you, but your wait time picking up your packet will be greater if you’re picking up for a big group, and we will assist other participants simultaneously.

Packet Pickup will be open at the following times:

Thursday February 1: 3-6 p.m.
Friday February 2: 3-6 p.m.
Saturday February 3: 10 a.m. -1 p.m.
Sunday February 4 – Packet pickup on event day opens at 7 a.m. and will be located at Sopraffina in the Aon Center.

Getting There

The Aon Center is conveniently located at 200 E Randolph in downtown Chicago.

Parking:
Discounted parking is available for just $6 in the Aon Center Garage. Directions to the garage can be found here.

Public Transportation:
The closest CTA station is Wabash Randolph (purple/brown) or Lake (red). From Lake, walk east to Michigan Ave, go south one block to E. Randolph St., and then walk east to the Aon Center. From Wabash/Randolph, just walk straight east down E. Randolph St. You can view on a map here.

What to Bring

Wear comfortable shoes and clothes to climb stairs. Gear check will be provided on site, but for those who are parking in the building you may leave winter clothing items in your car.

Hands must be free when you enter the stairwell to climb, so all belongings must be left at gear check or secured in pockets.

Where to Meet Your Team

There is a team meet-up area located in the lower level lobby. Map coming soon.

Gear Check

There will be a complimentary secured gear check at the Aon Center monitored by volunteers. Each stepper is required to check all gear, aside from cell phones. Your gear will be checked according to your bib number. We cannot be responsible for any lost or stolen items, so please do not check anything of value.

Veteran Tip: If you are taking advantage of the discounted parking at the Aon Center, skip the line at gear check and leave your coat in the car!

Recover with water, fruit, pizza (starting at 9 a.m.), ice cream, cold beer, and more!

Soak in the amazing views from the 80th floor and dance to long-time Step Up for Kids band, Spakl.

Covid-19 Information

Description of Safety Requirements:
Step Up for Kids will adhere to all CDC, IDPH, and CDPH or other applicable public health guidelines for capacity restrictions, face covering/masking, food and drink service, and social distancing. Participants and attendees must be free from symptoms of COVID-19, recent COVID-19 exposure and at least ten days past any positive COVID-19 test. Participants agree to comply with (i) all applicable law, (ii) the current recommendations and guidance regarding COVID-19 and other contagious diseases issued by the CDC and applicable public health authorities, and (iii) all rules of the venues and hosts.

COVID-19 vaccination is strongly encouraged. For more information on COVID-19, including factors that may put you at higher risk, please consult your health care professional.

Symptoms/COVID Exposure:
All participants must agree to and comply with the following when registering for the event: I understand and agree that I must not attend the event if I have any symptoms of COVID-19, including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting or diarrhea. I also agree that, if I have been in close contact with someone who was COVID-19 positive within ten days of the event, I will not attend.

Fundraising Prizes

If you raise $1,000 or more by event day, you can pick up your VIP Stepper prizes at Bib Pick-Up and T-Shirt Pick Up the morning of Step Up. Participants will be emailed after the fundraising deadline on March 4, if they qualify for other fundraising level prizes.
