I lived in Lincoln Park with my partner, Katie, and our dog, Tonks, for nearly a decade. Over that time, Children’s Memorial Hospital morphed from a familiar neighborhood landmark we passed on walks to a place we deeply respected - a place where families found hope during their most challenging moments. Even after the hospital relocated and became Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital, that recognition remains.

Today, our story comes full circle in an unexpected way. The original Children's Memorial building is now our year-round training facility where Katie and I prepare for triathlons (including those brutal January and February swim sessions when Chicago's
weather makes outdoor training impossible!). Every stroke in that pool reminds us of the building's legacy and the lives saved within its walls.

This August, we're racing the Chicago Triathlon not just as athletes, but as advocates for the exceptional pediatric care that Lurie continues to provide. Currently ranked #1 in Illinois and nationally recognized in 11 specialties, Lurie exemplifies what I help hospitals achieve every day through CareKate Analytics - translating clinical excellence into the recognition and trust that families deserve.
