I am walking in honor of Vernon, one of our 1st grade students who bravely battled a rare brain tumor and passed away earlier this year. Vernon and I kicked off our day together in front of his locker every morning of his 1st grade year, sharing countless smiles, laughs and jokes. We miss him tremendously and will be coming together in his honor to support his family, as well as other families who rely on Lurie Children’s during incredibly difficult times.
