Fundraising

What is the fundraising requirement and when does fundraising end?

There is no fundraising minimum required, but all participants are encouraged to fundraise. Fundraising will close on June 30.

Adults (18+) who raise $100 and youth (17 and under) who raise $50 will earn an event t-shirt!

How can my friends and family make a donation?

The fastest and easiest way is to refer your supporters to the personal fundraising page you create on the website. If they prefer, they can fill out this offline donation form and mail it to:

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago Foundation
Attn: The Walk
Department 4586
Carol Stream, IL 60122-4586

Are donations made on my behalf tax deductible?

Yes, all donations in which goods or services are not received are 100% tax deductible. Lurie Children’s will send a gift receipt and acknowledgement letter to anyone who donates on behalf of a participant within 10 business days of receiving the gift.

Can my company match my gift?

First, check to see if your company has a matching gift program for health organizations. Our Double Your Impact page can be helpful in determining which companies match donations. Complete a matching gift form (available from your company's Human Resources department) and send it in with your donation.

How can I track my fundraising totals?

You can check your fundraising efforts via the participant headquarters. When a donation is made online, it is processed automatically and is added toward your fundraising total. Donations made by check or money order will be processed and counted toward your total within 10 business days after it is received by our office.

Event Logistics

What time should I arrive?

The site will open at 8:30 a.m., and opening ceremonies begin at 9:30. We recommend arriving with plenty of time to park, acclimate to the event site, stretch, and meet up with friends and family before the opening ceremonies begin.

What should we bring?

Comfortable clothes for the weather, your Lurie Children’s swag, and snacks/water. Participants are welcome to bring any food/beverage from home with the exception of alcohol. No outside alcohol is permitted on site. We will have some food vendors on site, but you are also invited to pack a picnic lunch to enjoy with your family and friends! Water and other beverages will be available, but you’re also encouraged to bring a water bottle from home.

Can we bring strollers, scooters, bikes?

Strollers, wheelchairs and wagons are fine, but we kindly request you leave anything else with wheels at home. Both courses are open to the public during our walk, so scooters, bikes, etc. can add a safety risk to a busy route.

What happens if it rains?

The Walk will take place rain or shine!

Other Questions

Can friends and family sign up to participate at The Walk?

Registration will be open online leading up to event day and on-site on Sunday at both locations. On-site registration might be backed up or slow moving, so we highly suggest registering online ahead of time (even that morning!)

Do all participants get an event t-shirt?

Participants who fundraise $100 ($75 for kids 17 and under) will earn their event t-shirt and can pick it up on event day. You can also make a donation or turn in gifts to earn your shirt on-site.
