Lurie Children's Race Against Cancer (formerly Run for Gus)
Lurie Children’s Race Against Cancer is for families navigating treatment. For survivors finding strength. For siblings who’ve been there every step of the way. For nurses, doctors and researchers who give their all. And for everyone who has ever sat in a hospital room wishing they could do more.
Together, at the Race Against Cancer, we can push cancer back and move breakthroughs forward. And here’s the truth: we are closer than ever.
Whether you run, walk, push a stroller, cheer from the sidelines or form a team in your child’s honor, your support can help us get to the finish line.
Mission Snapshot

This isn’t just a race. It’s a city standing up to cancer, together.
Home to the largest pediatric cancer program in Illinois, each year Lurie Children’s cares for more than 200 kids newly diagnosed with cancer. That number is big, but in Chicago, we don’t back down from big challenges.
Every September, during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Chicago comes together for kids facing cancer. Our collective energy, grit, and determination are an unstoppable force, pushing pediatric cancer back and moving research and advancements in care forward. And we won’t stop until childhood cancer no longer defines a childhood.
