Event Details

What is Lurie Children’s Pedalpalooza?

Lurie Children’s Pedalpalooza is a virtual event supporting the patients and families at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. The event is 100% virtual, and participants will turn the childhood joy of a bike ride into a challenge that fits their lifestyle. The recommended goal is 100 miles throughout the month of July. Individuals can accomplish that goal little by little throughout the month, as one large independent century ride, or something in between. Individuals can take this challenge outdoors or on their stationary bike, and families can customize their 100-mile challenge to make it fit their abilities (for example, a family of five completing 20 miles each).

Who can participate?

Anyone! Lurie Children’s Pedalpalooza is open to participants of all ages and abilities.

How do I track my miles?

Stay tuned for how you can track your miles on the Pedalpalooza web page!

Do you have cycling gear for purchase?

No, but adult participants that fundraise $500 will earn an exclusive Lurie Children’s Pedalpalooza cycling jersey. Youth participants will qualify for a cycling jersey when they raise $350. Families can choose to earn up to five t-shirts instead of a cycling jersey.

How do I register, and how much does it cost?

You can register as an individual, register your family or join or form a team for Lurie Children’s Pedalpalooza, and registration is free!

Fundraising

How can friends and family donate to my fundraising efforts?

  • Send them the link to your personal or team fundraising page, where they can make a donation online
  • They can search for your name or team name
  • If they prefer, they can fill out this offline donation form

Donation forms may be mailed to:

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago Foundation
Attn: Community Events
Department 4586
Carol Stream, IL 60122-4586

Are donations made on my behalf tax deductible?

Yes, all donations in which goods or services are not received are 100% tax deductible.

Will Lurie Children’s Foundation acknowledge my supporters?

The Foundation will send a gift receipt and acknowledgement letter to anyone who makes a donation on behalf of a Pedalpalooza participant.

How can I find out if my company offers a matching gift?

First, check to see if your company has a matching gift program for health organizations. Our Matching Gifts tool can be helpful in determining which companies match donations. Complete a matching gift form (available from your company's Human Resources department) and send it in with your donation.

How can I check my personal fundraising totals or that of my team?

You track your fundraising efforts via the participant center. The participant center allows you to log on and review your pledges any time of the day. When a donation is made online, it is processed automatically and added toward your fundraising goal. Donations made by check or money order will be processed and counted toward your total within 14 business days after it is received by Lurie Children's Foundation.

Will donations made by check or cash appear on my fundraising page?

Yes, our Foundation finance team will add donations received in the mail to your fundraising page. Since we are working remotely, it could take two weeks after we receive the check for you to see the donation on your personal fundraising page. Thank you for your patience!

What is the deadline to turn in donations?

Participants can fundraise and earn incentives through July 31, 2024.
