Be a Superhero for a day!
Schools across Chicagoland are grabbing our capes and masks to unleash our superpowers for a day of fun, compassion, and fundraising. Our students, staff and community have the chance to be real-life heroes for children battling illnesses. We’re calling our community to come together to raise critical funds to show the patients at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago they’re not fighting alone.
As a nonprofit hospital, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago depends on donations to provide a healthier future for every child. Your gifts can help fuel life-saving research, comfort kids during challenging procedures and provide access to world-class care for families in need.
All donations from this fundraiser will be allocated to: The Floor 20 Patient, Family, and Staff Support Fund.
Cameron Valencia, grandson of former 6th grade teacher and Grace Church member Laura Clauss, spent a significant amount of time on the 20th floor at Lurie Children’s Hospital receiving treatment for kidney disease before his passing in 2022.
In his honor, Cameron’s family, together with the Grace community, continues to support children facing extended hospital stays—offering comfort, care, and hope to families during some of their most challenging moments.
Floor 20 serves as a vital home for patients cared for by the Nephrology, Pulmonary, Immunology, Infectious Disease, and Ventilator-Dependent teams.
This fund is dedicated to providing joy, dignity, and a sense of normalcy for children during their hospital stays. It equips clinical teams with flexible resources to enhance the patient experience, including:
- Normalizing the Medical Journey: Providing resources such as “Medical Companion” teddy bears with G-tubes or central lines to help children feel less alone.
- Creating Moments of Joy: Organizing activities like movie nights or surprise “popsicle cart” rounds to brighten long afternoons.
- Dignity in Daily Care: Supplying small comforts such as new pajamas and high-quality personal care products to make hospital rooms feel more like home.
- Essential Support for Families: Assisting with logistical burdens, including emergency parking passes or transportation, so families can focus on their child’s recovery.
All donations are tax-deductible and will be acknowledged by Lurie Children’s Foundation.
On behalf of the patients and families of Lurie Children’s, thank you for your support!
