Event Information

Teams representing local companies will face off in a variety of traditional events like tug of war and relay races — plus new events that will challenge strength, speed and wit. The better your team works together, the better your chances at taking home the gold. The overall winner will take home the coveted Corporate Cup plus bragging rights until next year’s event. With all fundraising supporting the patients and families at Lurie Children’s, Corporate Cup is not just fun and games, but an afternoon where community impact meets corporate teambuilding — there’s no other event like it.

What will the event look like?

The event is planned to be held in-person in the fall of 2023. .

What activities will teams compete in?

Planned challenges include: relay races, basketball shot, football toss, memory games, obstacle course, tug of war, soccer kicks, and more.

Lurie Children’s Corporate Cup Activity Schedule

Stay tuned for the 2022 Corporate Cup schedule. Planned activities and game play are listed below, details may change as the competition is finalized.

Pick-A-Puck

TEAMS

  • All team members must participate

COMPETITION FORMAT

  • Teams are set up opposite their designated pucks.
  • In that puck space, there will be 23 pucks with 1 letter on 1 side of each puck, spread out with the letter side face down.
  • Each team will have to spell the phrase “FOR CHICAGO FOR EVERY CHILD” (23 LETTERS)
  • Each team must retrieve the letters in the same order as the phrase (i.e., “F” first, then “O”, etc.)
  • Team members go one by one and cannot start until the previous player places the correct letter.
  • If the puck you flip over is not the correct letter in the sequence, you must flip it back to face down. You will do this until you find the correct puck.
  • You cannot touch another team’s pucks.
  • Everyone must rotate in a consecutive order; you cannot cut anyone in line.

POINT SYSTEM

  • Scores will be earned in the order of a team’s ranking in the event

Tug of War

TEAMS

  • Teams consist of eight participants, with at least three individuals who identify as the same gender.

COMPETITION FORMAT

  • The competition will be single elimination bracket format.
  • To win, a team ust pull the opposing team 5 yards so that the rope marker crosses the line
  • Gloves are allowed but will not be provided.
  • Cleats are not allowed.
  • Participants must stay on their feet and not sit, kneel, or lie down. The rope must not wrap around any participant.
  • The winning team from each group will play a winning team from a different group at the end of the day.

Football Toss

TEAMS

  • Teams consist of eight participants, with at least three individuals who identify as the same gender.

COMPETITION FORMAT

  • 3 team members will each stand in their own hula hoop, set up at varying distances.1 participant in a hula hoop must be of the minority gender identity of the eight participating in the toss.
  • The remaining 5 team members will line up behind the cone across from their teammates in hula hoops to throw the footballs.
  • Each throwing team member will have 10 attempts to throw the football at any of their teammates standing within the hula-hoops.
  • To be awarded points, the hula-hoop team member must catch the ball in the air while keeping both feet within the hula-hoop.
  • The farthest hula-hoop is worth 3 points
  • The middle hula-hoop is worth 2 points
  • The closest hula-hoop is worth 1 point

POINT SYSTEM

  • Scores will be earned in the order of a team’s ranking in the event.

Hoop Dreams

TEAMS

  • Teams will consist of 8 participants, with no more than 4 who identify as the same gender.

COMPETITION FORMAT

  • Each participant will get five shots. They can shoot from whichever location they choose – the close spot is 1 pt, the medium spot is 2 pts, the far shot is 3 pts. Point totals will be recorded for final score.

POINT SYSTEM

  • After each participant shoots, their scores will be added together. The top 3 teams in your group with the most points will be awarded points. First place team will receive 5 points, second place team will receive 3 points, third place team will receive 1 point.

Soccer Kicks

TEAMS

  • All team members must participate.

COMPETITION FORMAT:PART ONE
Each team will split their members in half and line up behind each other on opposite sides of the rope.

  • Each team will have to collectively get a soccer ball over the rope 20 times while staying behind the designated spot. If you cannot get the ball over the rope after your try, you will go to the back of the line and wait for your turn to try again.
  • Once a team gets the ball over the rope 20 times successfully, it will move on to the next soccer activity.

PART TWO

  • Each team will line up opposite a small soccer goal. Participants will take turns attempting to score a goal from behind the designated spot.
  • Each team will have to collectively score 20 goals.
  • If you cannot score a goal after your try, you will go to the back of the line and wait for your turn to try again.
  • Everyone must rotate consecutively in order; you cannot cut anyone in line.

  • Scores will be earned in the order of a team’s ranking in the event

Obstacle Course

TEAMS

  • Teams will consist of 6 participants, with no more than 3 who identify as the same gender.

COMPETITION FORMAT:PART TWO

  • Teams will travel through physical and mental obstacles one at a time for the fastest cumulative time.
  • Team members must travel one at a time through obstacles. The next team member cannot begin until the previous team member has completed all obstacles.
  • Team members are not allowed to bypass an obstacle.
  • The team may need to collectively complete a challenge or obstacle after all individuals have completed the individual obstacles.

POINT SYSTEM

  • Scores will be earned in the order of a team’s ranking in the event

North Ave. Beach Relay

TEAMS

  • The entire team should play, in the same order, until their containers are full.

COMPETITION FORMAT

  • Teams start behind the startline and establish their relay order.
  • When the Coacheree says go, the first player runs to the lake and fills up their pot or pitcher with water, and runs back and pours it in their team’s container.
  • Teams repeat this, in order, until their containers reach the designated level.
  • The team may need to collectively complete a challenge or obstacle after all individuals have completed the individual obstacles.

POINT SYSTEM

  • Scores will be earned in the order of a team’s ranking in the event

Color Puzzle

TEAMS

  • The entire team can play. No minimum or maximum.

COMPETITION FORMAT

  • The official activity coordinator will go through a sequence of seven total color cards.
  • Teams must wait until all seven colors are shown before starting to place their color cards onto poster board in order.

POINT SYSTEM

  • Scores will be earned in the order of a team’s ranking in the event.
