SPELLCHECK RELAY

PARTICIPANTS: All team members

COMPETITION FORMAT:

  • Teams are set up opposite their designated pucks.
  • There will be 23 pucks with one letter on one side of each puck, spread out with the letter side face down.
  • Each team will have to spell the phrase “FOR CHICAGO FOR EVERY CHILD” (23 LETTERS)
  • Participants must retrieve the letters in the same order as the phrase (i.e., “F” first, then “O”, etc.)
  • Team members go one by one and cannot start until the previous player places the correct letter.
  • If the puck you flip over is not the correct letter in the sequence, you must flip it back to face down. You will do this until you find the correct puck.
  • Everyone must rotate in a consecutive order; you cannot cut anyone in line.

POINT SYSTEM:

  • Coacherees will record the time for their team to complete the challenge.
  • Fastest team will earn the number of points equal to event field size, second place will earn one less than that, etc.
  • Ties will be broken by highest team fundraising.

COFFEE RUN

PARTICIPANTS: All team members

COMPETITION FORMAT:

  • Teams start behind the start line and establish their relay order.
  • When the Coacheree says go, the first player runs to the lake and fills up their coffee pot with water, runs back, pours it into the water cooler jug, and gives the coffee pot to the next team member.
  • Teams repeat this, in order, until their containers reach the designated level.
  • Everyone must rotate in a consecutive order; you cannot cut anyone in line.
  • Teams may not use any other materials or supplies to pour water into the cooler jug.

POINT SYSTEM:

  • Coacherees will record the time for their team to fill the jug.
  • Fastest team will earn the number of points equal to event field size, second place will earn one less than that, etc
  • Ties will be broken by highest team fundraising.

TEAM CATCH UP

PARTICIPANTS: 12 players, with at least 3 identifying as each gender. If your team is less than 12 people, team members can throw more than once.

COMPETITION FORMAT:

  • 3 team members (1 of the minority gender identity) will stand in hula hoops, set up at varying distances, and will be catching footballs.
  • 9 team members will line up behind the cone across from their teammates in hula hoops to throw the footballs.
  • Each throwing team member will have 5 attempts to throw a pass to their teammates in the hula hoops.
  • To be awarded points, the hula hoop team member must catch the ball in the air while keeping both feet within the hula hoop.

POINT SYSTEM:

  • The farthest hula-hoop is worth 3 points, middle is worth 2 points, closest is worth 1 point.
  • Coaches will record scores, the highest cumulative score will receive most points, followed by second place, etc.
  • Ties will be broken by highest team fundraising.

ZOOM DISRUPTION

PARTICIPANTS: 8 players, with at least 3 identifying as each gender.

COMPETITION FORMAT:

  • Teams will take turns going through obstacle course one at a time for the fastest cumulative time.
  • Team members must travel one at a time through obstacles. The next team member cannot begin until the previous team member has completed all obstacles.
  • Team members are not allowed to bypass an obstacle. 
  • The team may need to collectively complete a challenge or obstacle after all individuals have completed the individual obstacles.

POINT SYSTEM:

  • Coacherees will record the time for their team.
  • Teams will earn points equivalent with their time vs. all other teams in the event.
  • Fastest team will earn the number of points equal to event field size, second place will earn one less than that, etc.
  • Ties will be broken by highest team fundraising.

COMMUTE RELAY

PARTICIPANTS: 8 players, with at least 3 identifying as each gender.

COMPETITION FORMAT:

  • Team members will line up around the track as noted by cones or track lines
  • When referee says “go” they will race to the next teammate and alternate who will ride a wacky tricycle.
  • Participants may need to carry things as they “commute” around the track

POINT SYSTEM:

  • Coacherees will record the time for their team to complete the challenge.
  • Fastest team will earn the number of points equal to event field size, second place will earn one less than that, etc.
  • Ties will be broken by highest team fundraising.

EVERYONE CHIPS IN

PARTICIPANTS: 8 players, with at least 3 identifying as each gender.

COMPETITION FORMAT:

  • Team members will line up around the track as noted by cones or track lines
  • When referee says “go” they will race to the next teammate and alternate who will ride a wacky tricycle.
  • Participants may need to carry things as they “commute” around the track

TAILGATE TIME: OUTSIDE THE BOX

PARTICIPANTS: All team members

COMPETITION FORMAT:

  • Team members will work together to build a Jenga tower as tall as you can in five minutes.
  • Participants can only use one hand to remove and place blocks. All standard Jenga rules apply (no touching or holding the tower, etc.)
  • If the tower falls, your team can start over and try again at rebuilding your tower.
  • Towers must be built on sand, but a flat base can be created after the five-minute timer begins.

POINT SYSTEM:

  • Each layer of your tower is worth one point. One block qualifies a layer. Coaches will record scores, the highest cumulative score will receive number of points equal to event field size, second place will earn one less than that, etc.
  • Ties will be broken by highest fundraising team.

TAILGATE TIME: CIRCLE BAG ON THAT

PARTICIPANTS: 12 players, with at least 3 identifying as each gender. If your team is less than 12 people, team members can golf more than once.

COMPETITION FORMAT:

  • Each participant gets 5 throws
  • If they make it into the hole, they get three points.
  • All bags that remain on the box are worth one point.
  • After a player finishes their throws, clear the board for the next player.
  • Each player has one minute to complete their throws

POINT SYSTEM:

  • The team and coach will keep track of the scores
  • Coaches will record scores, the highest cumulative score will receive number of points equal to event field size, second place will earn one less than that, etc.
  • Ties will be broken by highest fundraising team.
